OCT

Ocular Coherence Tomography or OCT for short, provides advanced intra ocular cross sectional images of ocular tissues.

We have the finest retinal imaging device in existence on site, giving our patients immediate access to high powered retinal, macular and glaucoma diagnostics in office. Cross sectional corneal and contact lens images support fitting of advanced contact lens designs.

Most of us are familiar with MRI and CAT scans these days. Like those devices, Ocular Coherence Tomography provides an extremely high resolution image of an examined eye structure. These images are obtained using multiple low intensity laser lights and then displayed on computer screens for doctor analysis.

One of many valuable capabilities of this instrument is to not only look at, but also to look down into the internal structure of the retina in cross sections at an almost cellular level. This high resolution, and ability to look into retinal structure provides never before available diagnostic information supporting complex medical decision making.

This cutting edge technology is revolutionizing glaucoma diagnoses and monitoring. Having this capability in office facilitates accurate diagnosis of macular and other retinal disease which we manage with the help of Colorado’s retinal sub-specialized ophthalmologists. Glaucoma diagnosis, monitoring and treatment is available from our doctor and in conjunction with sub-specialized ophthalmologists through our referral.

Corneal Topography

For decades, eye doctors have used and in some offices still use a device called a keratometer to measure corneal curvature in two places on the eye.

Our Corneal Topography measures curvature at up to 22,000 locations, much more fully detecting eye shape for contact lens fitting, detection of “irregular astigmatism,” detection of eye disease, and detection of refractive surgery complications.

We routinely perform corneal topography on contact lens patients to help you get the best fit possible.

Clearest Possible Vision Requires Precision Measurements

Our OptiKam system provides precision measurement of facial features and eyewear dimensions to position optics ideally for best vision. Sophisticated optics work properly only when positioned carefully.

This system enables lenses to be positioned where you need them to be.

Optos Wide Field Retinal Imaging

Retinal imaging greatly improves the doctors ability to view the inside of a patients eye. Our Optos wide field imager enables us to see much more of the inside of your eyes.

This is a big convenience for our patients who prefer not to have their eyes dilated as part of their eye examination. Imaging is possible through very small pupils.

Detection of retinal detachments, cancerous tumors and many other types of peripheral retinal pathology is greatly enhanced by the availability of this state of the art instrument. Permanent peripheral retinal images are stored as part of your medical record allowing future comparison.

Advanced Wavefront Abberation Refractive Analysis Technology

This technology gives us the ability to recognize otherwise hidden variance in the focusing power of the eyes. Some patients experience blurry vision which doctors without this technology cannot explain.

Once detected, Dr McAllister can evaluate these more complex focusing errors for possible correction using a variety of technologies including rigid scleral contact lenses potentially providing clearer vision. Complex focusing errors can sometimes occur secondary to LASIK, RK surgery, keratoconus, or other corneal irregularities.
